Christopher Vourlias Germany’s Sola Media has closed a wave of international sales for the animated feature “Finnick,” produced by Riki Group, which will be released by Sony Pictures Russia in Russia and CIS on March 24.The CGI-animated comedy follows the adventures of 13-year-old Christine, who befriends the young prankster Finnick – one of the furry and usually invisible beings known as Finns. The odd couple has to team up as detectives to solve the mysterious events happening in their city.The Stuttgart-based sales agency has inked deals with Eagle Pictures (Italy), Independent Films (Benelux), Koch Films (German/Austria/Switzerland), Vertigo Releasing (U.K.), Tanweer (Greece), Selmer Media (Scandinavia), Myndform (Iceland), Rialto (Australia and New Zealand), and Black Sheep Films (South Africa), and holds exclusive distribution rights in multiple additional territories.

Yossman VFX studio Framestore has tapped Simon Devereux as its new director of global talent development.He will oversee Framestore’s training and global workforce at the company, which has worked on blockbusters including “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Wonder Woman 1984,” ensuring they remain at the forefront of technology, creativity and innovation.
Devereux, whose 20-year long career spans VFX, games and television, joins from Sony PlayStation. He is also the founder and leader of ACCESS:VFX, a transatlantic industry body focused on increasing inclusivity and representation in the VFX industry.
At Sony Playstation, Devereux was responsible for pan-Europe learning and development programme, diversity and its mental health learning agenda. He previously oversaw the global training curriculum at The Mill and has also worked at Channel 4.Framestore prides itself on its training and development programmes, which go beyond sessions on new software and tech and include opportunities for staff to develop skills in areas from Unreal Engine to custom initiatives that aim to unlock employees’ skill and creativity.

Apparently those who have caught the film in its streaming run that began on January 7 on Amazon Prime agree. In fact the streamer says the movie, which is based on JR Mohringer’s memoir of growing up in Long Island where the patrons of his Uncle Charlie’s bar basically stood in as father figures for him, had one of the best debuts of any original movie on Prime Video, currently in their top 10 movie releases of all time, and opened globally on the service worldwide in over 240 countries and territories where it was #1 in its opening week. It has also been getting a large amount of five star reviews from users on the site.
