Todd Spangler NY Digital EditorRoku is gearing up to stuff a bunch of exclusive and original programming into the Roku Channel — and the company has set the premiere date for its first licensed content on this front for the free, ad-supported streaming service.“Cypher,” an FBI-set crime drama series, will premiere exclusively on the Roku Channel on March 19 in the U.S. and Canada.

Following this week’s announcement that CBC was unexpectedly cancelling “Kim’s Convenience” after five seasons, star Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (who portrayed Kim family patriarch Kim Sang-Il) is breaking his silence to address the surprise move.

The Netflix/CBC sitcom Kim's Convenience, which broke ground in Canada as the country's first comedy led by an Asian cast, is to end after its fifth season. Launched on the CBC in fall 2016, Kim's Convenience, set around a Korean-Canadian family running a corner shop in Toronto, streams on Netflix and on cable and video-on-demand platforms internationally.
