Two people have been rushed to hospital and a cow put down following a three vehicle road crash on the A9 that involved a trailer with cattle on board.
Emergency services attended the scene near the Broxden roundabout in Perth when they were alerted at around 7.10am on Tuesday morning (January 17). The serious crash involved a white Ford Transit van, a silver Isuzu D-Max towing a trailer with the cattle on board, and a black Audi A6.
Police have confirmed that two male drivers from the Isuzu and the Audi were taken to the Ninewells Hospital in Dundee to be treated for their injuries.
The road closed was closed in both directions causing major delays with several cows reportedly 'on the loose' after the incident. Tragically, one cow had to be euthanised at the scene as a result of the crash. The carriageway was reopened around 10am.
Constable David Gray of the Road Policing Unit said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of this crash. I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist our enquiry to contact us.
“We are also keen to obtain any dashcam from motorists driving on the road around the time of the crash.” Anyone with information should contact officers through 101 with reference number 0393 of 17 January.
A second road crash also took place in the same area a couple of hours later, causing more travel chaos.
