Two men jailed after MDMA worth £42,000 found inside sofa during Salford raid

Swinton men who were caught with drugs worth more than £40k have been jailed.  Andrew Pierce, 57, of Buchannan Street, and Ernie Wilkes, 33, of Leinster Road, were sentenced to more than eight years in prison on Monday (September 28). Manchester Crown Court heard how officers executed a warrant at Pierce's home address just after 7am on February 19 this year.  Following a search, a bag of white powder was found underneath a mattress. Almost half a kilo of MDMA carrying a street value of £42,000

M62 smash happened near Goole, East Yorkshire, on April 3.Police were called to reports a caravan transporter smashed through the central reservation and into an oncoming black Lexus car. The driver of the Lexus, Nigel Eley, 41, from Urmston, and passenger John-Paul Cassidy, 37, who lived in Chorlton, both died.

Man arrested following multi-vehicle collision in Bolton

in Bolton.  Police were called to Smithills Dean Road to reports of a crash involving several cars on Tuesday (September 16).  A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said a driver involved in the accident allegedly failed a drugs test at the scene.  The force claims it’s the second time the driver has been arrested for drug driving in four days. In a tweet, GMP Traffic said: “#XT14 attended Smithills Dean Road Bolton following RTC involving several cars.
