‘Twisters’: Glen Powell & Daisy Edgar-Jones’ Opposites Attract In Latest Footage – CinemaCon

Twisters might be all tornadoes wrecking the Earth, but at the heart of it is a good banter romance, and that’s what Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell have got going on in the latest trailer shown Wednesday at CinemaCon.
That gal-guy back and forth was what was also at the heart of the original 1996 Twister movie starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton.
“You think you can interrupt a tornado,” Powell’s cowboy tornado chaser asks Edgar-Jones’ city girl.
“In theory,” she answers, “in the field and in the moment, I got it wrong. We never had a chance.”
“You want one?” Powell asks, giving her an invitation for a good time.

Director Lee Isaac Chung introduced the footage today during Universal‘s presentation at Caesars Colosseum for what he said was his first CinemaCon. He explained he chose to move away from his indie film roots for Twisters because when he was growing up in the Midwest, “tornadoes were part of our reality.” He praised the 1996 movie and said its director Jan de Bont is “underappreciated. … He did what movie theaters are supposed to do — bring audiences up close to things that are bigger than us, that bring us fear, awe and reverence. I was really scared and wanted to run directly into my fear than away from it.”

Chung recounted that executive producer Steven Spielberg is “an absolute tornado fanattic. … If you made a tornado video and put it on YouTube, he has seen it.”
