The dramatic season 4 finale of “This Is Us” delivered plenty of surprises as well as strong ratings numbers for NBC.
Tuesday night’s episode scored a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49, its highest mark since Oct. 2019, and 7.9 million total viewers, matching the premiere for a season high. That represents a 21% ratings bump from the penultimate episode, and only a 4% drop from the season 3 finale. “FBI” rounded off its sophomore outing with even bigger numbers than usual in the absence of “This Is Us,” as CBS comfortably won the Tuesday night ratings race.
Add Empire to the growing list of shows which will see its current season end prematurely due to the entertainment industry shutdown prompted by the coronavirus crisis. At the end of Tuesday's episode, titled "Love Me Still," Fox announced that the show's sixth and final season will now only have 18 episodes, rather than the planned 20, as production was halted before the show could finish shooting its last two episodes.
With the Live+7 numbers in for the week of March 16, the first week in which the coronavirus pandemic really took hold across the country, the ratings increase due to so many people self-isolating appears to be leveling off a little bit.
