‘True Lies’ TV Series Reboot Gets CBS Pilot Order From Matt Nix, McG & James Cameron

CBS has handed pilot orders to two untitled half-hour comedies: one inspired by TikTok star Sarah Cooper’s book How to Be Successful Without Hurting Men’s Feelings, from writer Cindy Chupack and producers Nina Tassler and Denise Di Novi; and one based on professional bowler Tom Smallwood’s life, from writer Mark Gross and producers David Hollander and Brian D’Arcy James. Both projects hail from CBS Studios.

UTA has inked Sin City and Dark Angel actress, entrepreneur, and best-selling author Jessica Alba.

Filming on the New Jersey set happened as recent as last Thursday but, with only three days left in production, the network has decided to pull the pilot - according to Page Six. But a CBS spokesperson told the mag 'production will resume after the quarantine period' and those in close contact with the script supervisor are 'self-isolating.

For years now, there have been talks about a “True Lies” sequel coming eventually. The James Cameron-directed film is a classic ‘90s action film that has incredible spectacle, a charming cast (perhaps even Arnold Schwarzenegger’s best performance from that era), and a solid story.

With its film line-up previously announced, the SXSW Film Festival has unveiled its keynote and a very robust second round of featured speakers. This year’s online edition of SXSW kicks off on March 16 and continues through March 20.

It’s taken “True Lies” a while to make it to TV screens but it’s finally happening.
