Commuters are facing delays and cancellations on services between Stockport and Altrincham tonight following a signalling fault.
Northern Rail are warning that trains will either be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes due to the issue. Trains between Manchester and Chester via Altrincham are currently unable to run, in both directions.
Customers are advised to check the website for alternative travel options. Disruption is expected to last until around 9pm this evening.

Northern Rail tweeted: "Due to a fault with the signalling system between Stockport and Altrincham the line is blocked. Services running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes."
