A top British soap actor has allegedly been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in her 20s after meeting her at a party.The household name, who is said to also be in his 20s, has been released on bail as police officers continue to investigate the incident, which reportedly happened at a residential property in South London. The incident is said to have happened on December 20 last year, with police now offering the unnamed woman specialist support as officers continue with their investigation. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a man was arrested on suspicion of rape but was subsequently bailed until April.
The story has reportedly shocked the actor's co-workers and crew who work on the set of the hugely popular soap. Speaking to The Mirror, a Metropolitan Police source said: "Police are investigating after a woman in her 20s reported she was raped while at a residential address in the Southwark area on 30 December 2022. "Specially trained officers continue to offer support to the victim.
A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape and has been bailed until a date in April. Enquiries continue." Speaking to The Sun, a TV source further explained that the actor was taken in for questioning when the initial accusation was made. "This has sent shockwaves through the soap he works on.
It has left people reeling. It’s a very serious allegation,” the source explained to the publication. "They apparently met earlier that night at a party.” The actor, who is said to be instantly recognisable to fans, was said to have been interviewed for several hours following the allegation.
