told the Independent. “Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do.
It is 99 percent done.”Little is known about the upcoming sequel aside from the fact that it continues the story of the ghoulish Beetlejuice (played once again by Michael Keaton) and his never-ending desire to cause mayhem. Burton’s film will also see the return of Winona Ryder, 51, and Catherine O’Hara, 69, as Lydia and Delia Deetz, respectively. The film will also feature “Wednesday” alum Jenny Ortega as Ryder’s onscreen daughter as well as Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux and several others.
Speaking to Empire magazine before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Keaton, 72, revealed that the “Nightmare Before Christmas” director wanted to make sure that any special effects used were practical.“Beetlejuice is the most f–kin’ fun you can have working,” Keaton said to the outlet. “It’s so fun, it’s so great. And you know what it is? We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie.”“There’s a woman in the great waiting room for the afterlife literally with a fishing line,” continued the actor.
“I want people to know this because I love it – tugging on the tail of a cat to make it move.”Keaton is also serving as an executive producer on the film. “It has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time,” the “Birdman” star said. “Making stuff up, making stuff happen, improvising and riffing, but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something.
