Three police officers were assaulted after attending the scene of a crash in Oldham on Saturday afternoon (July 1). Emergency services were scrambled to the collision, between two vehicles, on Middleton Road at around 1pm.
A woman in her 20s was taken to hospital from the scene and had sustained minor injuries. As police were taking details from the second vehicle involved, three police officers were assaulted.
They all sustained injuries that are not thought to be serious. A man, aged 26, was arrested on suspicion of assault of an emergency worker and obstructing a constable. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Chief Inspector Lindsay Booth, of GMP’s Oldham division, said: “This is a shocking incident where our officers have been attacked whilst conducting their duties. Whilst they did not suffer serious injuries, this is behaviour will not be tolerated against police.
“As a force, we are committed to protecting the public and keeping our streets safe and they absolutely do not deserve to be treated in this way. If anyone has any information at all that could assist officers in their enquiries, please do not hesitate to get in touch with police."
