"Thousands" of patients a year are dying because of overcrowding in hospital emergency departments, a Royal College of Emergency Medicine report has found.
The report, released on November 18, claimed an estimated 4,519 people in England died in 2020-21 as a direct result of delays caused by overcrowding in A&E departments waiting to start treatment in the hospital.
