Just nine fines were issued for fly-tipping in Stockport last year — despite more than 2,500 incidents being reported.
Data from the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs shows that in 2019-20, 2,511 fly-tipping reports were made.
However, a fine was issued in just 0.36 percent of all cases — but the Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council says it is ‘taking action when we have the evidence to do so’.
