If you’ve been keeping up with beauty trends lately, you’ll have spotted one product that’s made its way into the haircare regimes of celebrities everywhere. The Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural, £21.60 here (was £27), has become something of a viral sensation after celebrity stylist Chris Appleton, who’s behind the glossy locks of multiple A-listers including Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, and Ariana Grande, gave it his professional seal of approval.
The Dream Coat spray cloaks your hair in a protective film, which once activated by heat seals hair, leaving it glossy, sleek and healthy looking. Although it’s not as costly as some celeb-approved beauty products it’s still at the higher end of most people’s budgets, leaving us on the hunt for something slightly more affordable – and we think we’ve found it.
Hair Proud’s Glass Hair, £8.95 here, has been lauded as the perfect dupe for Color Wow’s Dream Coat after it went viral on TikTok thanks to user @AbbyTheBadassMom. The beauty TikToker shared her find in a video captioned: “Dupe alert for the Color wow dream coat”, and started her video by saying “You can thank me later.” In her video, Abby reviews Hair Proud’s budget-friendly spray and compares it to the celeb-loved version, noting that even the ingredients of both products are almost identical.
She even admits she prefers the spray function of Hair Proud’s version, explaining it’s much easier to use and gives a better mist effect. Both are heat activated, and work by using a hair dryer or styling tool to seal the spray onto your hair, creating that A-list worthy glossy, glass-like sheen on your tressses.
