The Weeknd Donates $500,000 to Black Lives Matter Causes

Wrestler and actor John Cena has donated $1 million to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

Black Lives Matter movement earlier this week, BTS is backing up their support with a sizable donation.

Jennifer Aniston is doing her part amid the global Black Lives Matter protest following the tragic death of George Floyd. Harper’s Bazaar reported today that Jennifer Aniston joined the ranks of many other celebrities who have donated to a number of pro-black organizations.

A few days ago, it was reported that BTS and Big Hit Entertainment were in talks to decide upon an amount to donate towards the Black Lives Matter movement. The K-Pop band decided to step forward and do their bit as people took to the street in the US protesting and demanding justice for George Floyd following his death by the hands of a police officer.

Earlier this week, the kid-themed Nickelodeon network honoured the Black Lives Matter by going dark for eight minutes and 46 seconds — the precise amount of time that former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin had his knee on the neck of George Floyd before he died.

Nickelodeon is giving back big to the Black Lives Matter movement amid ongoing protests for racial equality.

 Eva Mendes  is not only a wonderful mother, actress and wife, but she is also a force for change. The Hitch actress took to social media to talk about the social advocacy organizations that she has donated to in order to help and further promote the Black Lives Matter movement.

John Boyega delivered an impassioned speech at a Black Lives Matter protest in London on Wednesday, one of many major anti-racism demonstrations that have taken place around the world following the death of George Floyd on May 25. "Black lives have always mattered.

The Toronto artist also called on the likes of Universal Music Group, Spotify and Apple Music to go "big and public" with their donations

Stephanie Beatriz and Griffin Newman who are famous for starring in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Tick, respectively, took to social media to plead with fellow actors who have portrayed or still portray police officers on TV to show support to the Black Lives Matter movement by donating part of their earnings to the cause.

Rapper The Weeknd has donated 500,000 dollars (about £400,000) to Black Lives Matter causes and urged record labels and streaming services to do similar.

In the wake of George Floyd‘s May 25 death by asphyxiation from the result of disgraced officer Derek Chauvin’s knee pressing into the unarmed Black man’s neck, millions across the country stood in peaceful solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
