The True Story of Betty Broderick Is Even Wilder Than ‘Dirty John’

Evan Peters is apologizing for hitting the retweet button a little too fast. On Tuesday, the American Horror Story actor told his followers he was sorry for retweeting a post by a Twitter user who shared a recording of a news broadcast.

“X-Men” and “American Horror Story” actor Evan Peters is under fire on social media and has apologized for retweeting a video on his Twitter account of a foot chase involving a looter and the police.

The American Horror Story actor, 33, retweeted a video of a news broadcast that showed police chasing and tackling a looter during protests in California.

The case of Betty Broderick is back in the headlines. The second season of USA’s Dirty John focuses on the 1989 murders and the controversial case that’s been made into multiple TV movies.

Not only did Betty’s eldest daughter, Kim, take the stand during her mom’s murder trial (watch the video below—it’s intense), but she also opened up about her experience in a book called , which doesn’t appear to be widely available. Apparently, Kim has repeatedly denied Betty’s requests to support her parole, but she has visited her mom in jail. And Betty was, uhhh, not thrilled. According to a 1990 article, everything changed for Betty once Linda entered Dan’s life: “The people who knew me before 1983 knew the real me. Nineteen eighty-three was like an ax through my life.”

Betty’s crimes went down in the late ’80s, when she suspected Dan was having an affair with Linda—which, to be fair, would piss off most people. But Betty, uh, took Dan’s infidelity pretty badly. By which I mean she rammed her car into his front door, left obscene messages on his answering machine, and —all throughout the course of their insane five-year divorce. Dan even had Betty arrested and briefly committed to a mental hospital, and poor Linda was so freaked out by the whole thing that .
