Benefits Street. Stephen Smith, aka Smoggy, was one of the stars of the hit Channel 4 show which caused controversy when it was first aired in January 2014. The show centred around residents on James Turner Street in Winson Green.
And Smoggy's entrepreneurial spirit captured the hearts of the nation - and the attention of millionaire and Pimlico Plumbers founder Charlie Mullins. The businessman later reportedly offered him a £10,000 deal to open a 50p discount store to rival Poundland. Unfortunately, they eventually fell out and the business venture did not happen.

After the fallout Smoggy slipped away from the public spotlight and disappeared from the headlines.
But just where is he now, eight years on from his moment of fame? Another of the stars of Benefits Street was Dee Kelly, aka White Dee. Like Smoggy she became a fans' favourite and her popularity saw her take part in Celebrity Big Brother. Dee, who no longer lives on James Turner Street, said she had lost contact with Smoggy after the show.
She says he had left the Winson Green area some years ago. She told BirminghamLive: "I haven't a clue where 50p man Stephen is. The last I heard was that he had moved to the Northfield area but that was a long time ago.
