A Scottish beach has been crowned one of the best winter beaches in the UK by The Times.
The newspaper's list of the seven top beaches across the nation to visit during the colder months and Mellon Udrigle in Wester Ross was the only Scottish destination to be included.
Located in the Northwest Highlands, the sandy beach offers one-of-a-kind views. Even though it is positioned on Scotland's west coast, it faces east towards the mountains of Coigach.
Other sights that you will spot on a clear day include the unique side profile of the Suilven mountain approximately 25 miles in the distance, and even a glimpse of the An Teallach mountain group. If you're lucky, you might even see seals, dolphins, or even minke whales in the water.
The beach itself is stunning, too, featuring clean pale sand and bright turquoise water. It is easily among the most attractive sections of coastline in the country.
If you are planning to check out Mellon Udrigle Beach for yourself, you should be aware that there are no cafés, toilets, or parking facilities nearby.
The Times commented: "Mellon Udrigle, in the lee of the Opinan peninsula in Wester Ross, is beautiful in summer, a crescent of pale sand backed by purple heather moorland and washed by waters of tropical blue.
"In the short days of January, though, if you can time your visit to coincide with cold air and high pressure, it’s even better here."
The full list of the best winter beaches in the UK can be found on The Times website.
