In Season 3, Cary, an actor, finally works his way up to C-list celebrity status, while Brooke, after talent managing her famous family members, decides to leave the industry to “do good.”

That’s still a lot of TV, but with fewer contenders comes the possibility of more dark horses getting noticed.

Peacock is bringing back Pete Davidson comedy Bupkis.

Selome Hailu Pete Davidson’s Peacock series “Bupkis” has been renewed for a second season. The semi-autobiographical series stars Davidson as himself as he attempts to work through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame to form meaningful relationships. Edie Falco and Joe Pesci also star. Season 1 guest stars included Machine Gun Kelly, Steve Buscemi, Charlamagne Tha God, Al Gore andJohn Mulaney, among others. Davidson writes the series with showrunner Judah Miller as well as Dave Sirus. All three serve as executive producers alongside Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer and Erin David. Universal Television is the studio, and Michaels’ Broadway Video produces.

Charna Flam “‘Fast Times at Ridgemont High’ and ‘Happy Madison’ have probably seeped their way into Pete Davidson’s head, and ‘Bupkis’ is what’s come out,” is how the show’s director, Jason Orley recently described the new Peacock comedy series to Variety. Written, produced and starring Davidson, “Bupkis” immerses audiences into a “surrealist” adaptation of Davidson’s life with the help of a star-studded call sheet, including Joe Pesci, Brad Garrett, John Mulaney, Sebastian Stan, Ray Romano and more. “Bupkis” opens with a caricature of the celebrity as he takes a moment to “unwind” in the basement of his family home. Davidson throws on a pair of VR goggles, presses play on an immersive pornographic video and in a moment of pleasure — and soon-to-be distress — his mother, played by Edie Falco, walks in as he reaches his climax.

Rupert Friend has rounded out cast of New Line’s Companion from writer/director Drew Hancock and the filmmaking team behind the breakout horror hit Barbarian. He joins a cast that already includes Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén. The film will mark Hancock’s directorial debut from his original screenplay.
