The shoes were previously going to be released on March 28, but it was delayed until May 2. The original date would have been the 30th anniversary of the day when Michael Jordan scored 69 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“As a nod to Jordan’s on-court play, the Men’s Air Jordan Retro 5 Basketball Shoes were designed to look like a fighter plane,” the official description of the shoe reads.

Michael Jordan, 57, is one of the greatest basketball players of all-time and his legendary career with the Chicago Bulls is being explored in the ESPN documentary The Last Dance. The May 10 episode will focus on the year 1993 when Michael walked away from basketball in October of that year after winning his third NBA Championship.
