Let us paint a familiar scene for you. It's well past midnight and the after-work drinks have reached their natural end point.
You could hail a taxi or run for a bus but you've got a hankering for something sweet, or perhaps just something to soak up the drink, however nowhere seems to be open. It’s a well-worn story, and one that many Mancs can relate to.
And while we've shared some of our favourite late-night spots for food and drink across the city before, only a small handful can say they're open until 3am. However, in a week's time our sweet treat prayers will be answered when the UK's first late-night cookie spot opens its doors right here in Manchester.

Cookie fans rejoice because Insomnia Cookies, the bakery chain that's garnered cult-like status over in America, will open its first UK stores on August 29 on Cross Street - next to the Royal Exchange - and University Green on Oxford Road, and there's plans for further expansion in the near future.
The brainchild of founder Seth Berkowitz, who dreamt up the idea while he was a college student looking for late-night snacks, Insomnia now boasts more than 240 bakeries across North America. Famous stateside for delivering warm, delicious cookies until 3am - along with ice-cold milk for dunking - it has built a legion of fans thanks to its indulgent menus, which also includes cookie shakes, ice cream, and a host of other sweet treats.
