‘The Matrix’ Reboot Shuts Down Production Amid Coronavirus Crisis

BMG Production Music has named Dan Pounder (pictured at right) to co-head alongside EVP and global managing director John Clifford. Pounder will head finance, operations and systems for the Berlin-based company which specializes in pre-cleared and custom production music services servicing content creators across broadcast, films, trailers, games and advertising. 

Till Lindemann, lead singer for the industrial-metal band Rammstein, has been diagnosed with coronavirus, according to the German newspaper Bild.

BERLIN -- Locked down due to the coronavirus pandemic, the nightclubs in the German capital have decided to keep the beat going — at least online.

Lady Gaga has decided to postpone the release of her forthcoming album, “Chromatica,” for now.

BERLIN — German collection society GEMA is rolling out a €40 million euro emergency aid program in an effort to help support its members during the coronavirus pandemic."It is already foreseeable that the economic consequences of the pandemic will be devastating for the entire creative industry," said Dr. Harald Heker, GEMA CEO.

On March 11, the United States initiated a travel ban from Europe to limit the spread of coronavirus, causing confusion and pandemonium. Around that same time, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Mackenzie Scott was in Berlin, playing one of the last shows of her European tour behind Silver Tongue, her fourth album as Torres.

The spread of the coronavirus has caused the cancellation of major sporting events and concerts throughout the country, causing financial uncertainty for thousands of arena workers.

Earlier this week, Berlin’s Berghain—a dance club infamous for its anything-goes darkrooms—announced it was canceling all upcoming “self-produced events” and effectively going dark through April 20. At Barcelona’s Sala Apolo, the lights will stay off for at least the next two weeks, its wooden floorboards gleaming dully in the emptiness.
