The Winner Takes It All: “The Masked Singer” paid tribute to Swedish super group ABBA on Wednesday — and unmasked two 1980s icons in the process. Pop ingenue Debbie Gibson, who first hit it big in 1987 as a 17-year-old sensation who wrote and sang her own songs, was unmasked as the Night Owl, while comedian and “America’s Got Talent” judge Howie Mandel — who rose to recognition on the 1980s medical drama “St. Elsewhere” — was revealed to be the Rock Lobster. Gibson was a last-minute addition to the episode after the celebrity who was originally set to appear had to exit after testing positive for COVID. With less than 24 hours to taping, Gibson agreed to step in.

Charlie Simpson has revealed he chose his rhino costume on The Masked Singer as a nod to his wife’s childhood and family.The 37-year-old Busted star won ITV’s secretive singing competition on Saturday evening after he performed three songs including Lewis Capaldi’s Before You Go. Following his win, Simpson explained the story behind his cowboy-inspired rhino costume choice saying: “My wife grew up in Kenya so I spend a lot of time in Kenya, and we spend a lot of time on safari. “I actually walked with rhinos, and some of the rhinos, there’s only a handful of them left.They’re really endangered and they have to be guarded by military personnel now, so the poachers don’t get them and I actually got to go and walk around with them, with these guards, it was incredible – with some of the last few remaining (rhinos) on Earth.

Following weeks of singing Jacket Potatoes and Otters, this weekend finally saw Rhino crowned winner of the fourth series of The Masked Singer. While judges Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross had been sure that the mystery voice belonged to James Arthur, fellow judges Rita Ora and Davina McCall, alongside a whole host of viewers at home, were correct in guessing that it was Busted singer Charlie Simpson all along. Speaking of his time on the show, the musician explained: “I was terrified the entire time.The thing I was scared most of was remembering lyrics.

Charlie Simpson has been announced as the winner of The Masked Singer 2023.The Busted star, 37, was unveiled to be the singer behind the Rhino costume on the hit ITV show after it was revealed he'd beaten Phoenix and Fawn in the grand final, which aired on Saturday 18 February. Judges Rita Ora and Davina McCall had both guessed it was Charlie behind the mask, while Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross had been sure it was X Factor star James Arthur performing on the show.
