Will Thorne Staff Writer(SPOILER ALERT: Do not read on if you have not watched the finale of season 2 of Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian.”)  Season 2 of “The Mandalorian” was full of surprises, but showrunner Jon Favreau saved the biggest one of them all for the epic finale.Titled “The Rescue” and directed by Peyton Reed, the episode begins with the Mandalorian and Boba Fett kidnapping Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi) to get some extra intel on Moff Gideon’s ship.

If there’s been one big trend in this season of “The Mandalorian,” is that every obvious theory fans dismiss because there’s no way the show will do that… is exactly what the show ends up doing. Whether it’s Ahsoka showing up at the beginning of her episode, or name-dropping Thrawn, it has become clear this show isn’t afraid to go big.

One of the biggest additions to “The Mandalorian” in its second season was the return of fan-favorite character Boba Fett, with Temuera Morrison playing the bounty hunter. After already announcing a ton of spin-off series, Disney used the season finale of “The Mandalorian,” to leave fans one last announcement in a post-credits scene.
