Sony defends PlayStation Plus price hike: “we haven’t touched pricing in many years”

Sony has responded to potential criticism of the cost of PlayStation Plus, arguing that the price hasn’t moved in “many years”.In an interview with Barron’s, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s marketing, sales, and business operations head Eric Lempel was asked how the company calculated the recent rise in the cost of the subscription service.“We want to make PlayStation Plus great. With our reboot last year and introducing the tier system, a lot of consumers have recognised that there’s a lot of value in PlayStation 5,” replied Lempel.“I’m happy to say, unlike a lot of other subscription services out there, we haven’t touched the PlayStation Plus pricing for 85 per cent of the world in many years.

David Fincher Is “Glad” He Didn’t Do ‘World War Z’ Sequel Because “‘The Last Of Us’ Has A Lot More Real Estate To Explore The Same Stuff”

Once upon a time, David Fincher‘s follow-up to 2014’s “Gone Girl” would have been a sequel to the 2013 blockbuster “World War Z.” But Fincher’s entry into blockbuster filmmaking never happened, with Paramount eventually scrapping the project by 2019. But what did one of Hollywood’s most distinct visual stylists have in mind for the sequel? Deadline reports (via GQ UK) that Fincher described his take as similar to a hit HBO series with a similar backdrop.

David Fincher says his scrapped ‘World War Z’ sequel was similar to ‘The Last Of Us’

David Fincher has revealed that he’s “glad” his planned World War Z sequel was never made, comparing it to HBO‘s The Last Of Us adaptation.Speaking to GQ Magazine UK, Fincher spoke of his cancelled World War Z sequel and explained the similarities between his vision for the film and this year’s The Last Of Us live-action series based on the video game of the same name.“It was a little like The Last Of Us,” Fincher said. “I’m glad that we didn’t do what we were doing, because The Last Of Us has a lot more real estate to explore the same stuff.”Fincher went on to explain: “In our title sequence, we were going to use the little parasite… [The Last Of Us] used it in their title sequence, and in that wonderful opening with the Dick Cavett, David Frost-style talk show.”The filmmaker was also asked if his original vision for the now-cancelled sequel was closer to the original World War Z novel rather than an original take on it, to which he said that it wasn’t close to the original book but “there is some talk of doing that”.Fincher’s next film will be the assassin film, The Killer starring Michael Fassbender.

The Rolling Stones Serve Up Their Liveliest Work in 40 Years With ‘Hackney Diamonds,’ Which Could Be the Last Time: Album Review

Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music To put the rather overheated hype around the new Rolling Stones album in superfan-quibbling terms, “Hackney Diamonds” is not their best work since “Some Girls,” released some 45 years ago — but it is their best since “Tattoo You,” which is just three years younger. That the Stones have reached such a peak while grappling with what an octogenarian rock band should sound like — one that recently lost their drummer of nearly 60 years, no less — is perhaps the most impressive feat of all.
