BET+ has set the return of Carl Weber’s The Family Business, starring Ernie Hudson. The series premieres on Thursday, July 4 on BET+ with two episodes, followed by a new episode every Thursday throughout the ten-episode season.
The finale arrives on August 29.
The series follows the Duncans, whose family ties that bind them have reached the breaking point as they face secrets from the past that threaten everything they’ve built. But this time, their enemies are coming from the inside of the family, and they have no one to blame but themselves. Season 5 returns to a civil war between LC Duncan (Hudson) and clan and their biggest enemy to date—one of his own sons.
Executive producers are Carl Weber, N.D. Brown, Ernie Hudson, and Trey Haley. Producers include Jeffrey Dumpson, Walter Nixon, Sean Ringgold, Abe Brown, Greg Anderson, and Veronica Nichols. Director is Trey Haley.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Cousin Ritchie on the show, perfectly described the series in our season one interview as “high-sodium volatility”; no one was coked up on drugs per se (though sometimes they were), but the surging blood pressure anxieties of their environment and lives made for a brilliantly toxic and gripping show about generational trauma, grinding through life and surviving grief.
