A new American Idol has officially been crowned. 21-year-old Harlem singer Just Sam took home the grand prize in Sunday's Season 18 finale, which was held virtually amid the coronavirus pandemic. Ryan Seacrest revealed the news to Sam, who was left awestruck by the results.

[Spoiler alert: This article contains the name of the winner of Sunday night's American Idol finale.]No matter who ended up in the winner's circle after Sunday night's (May 17) two-hour American Idol finale, they were destined to make history as the first champ to celebrate from the comfort of their own home.

A new American Idol has been crowned. Although the Sunday, May, 17, finale wasn’t what the stars are used to, the remaining singers were ready to compete. Dillon James, Jonny West, Arthur Gunn, Francisco Martin and Just Sam were announced as the final five at the top of the show, eliminating Julia Gargano and Louis Knight from the competition.

Screen Media has picked up the North American rights to Roger Michell’s doctor-assisted suicide drama Blackbird, which stars Susan Sarandon, Kate Winslet, Mia Wasikowska, Sam Neill, Rainn Wilson and Bex Taylor-Klaus. The feature, which bowed at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival, is set for a September 2020 release.

Katy Perry took part in The Disney Family Singalong: Volume II on Sunday and sang the beloved lullaby "Baby Mine," but of course she went the extra mile.  The singer and American Idol judge performed the song while dressed in a costume as Dumbo's mother, featuring her poodle, Nugget, dressed as Dumbo.  As fans are well aware, the tune was first featured in the 1941 animated movie Dumbo and has been a cherished piece ever since.  The song selection was certainly a fitting one for Perry
