FGirl Island is no more.
The CW has rebranded its FBoy Island spinoff. The network revealed that the show, which is a female take on the raunchy dating format, will be known as Lovers and Liars.
The show will premiere a sneak peek episode on Monday April 1 at 9pm, following the season premiere of All American, before moving to its regular timeslot of Thursday at 9pm on April 11.
The series sees three single men on a tropical island must determine which 24 women are there for love or cash in order to win $100,000.
It comes after the third season of FBoy Island aired in the fall, premiering in October. However, the show, which was originally commissioned and aired by HBO Max before it moved out of unscripted originals, didn’t quite hit the numbers that The CW was expecting.
The two series were shot back-to-back in order to make them more cost-effective, they were also shot in Malibu rather than the Cayman Islands.
“We will make interesting deals… that are cost effective. Part of that was by greenlighting two seasons at once, which then can be shot at once. It just made the cost per episode much more financially interesting for us and feasible for us,” The CW reality chief Heather Olander told Deadline last year.
No word as to whether The CW will change the name of FBoy Island if and when it returns to the network.
Lovers and Liars is produced by STXtelevision. The series was created by Elan Gale, who is executive producing for TheYearOfElan Productions alongside Jason Goldberg for STXtelevision. Nikki Glaser serves as host and executive producer. Bill Dixon and Audrey Smith serve as executive producers and showrunners. The series is directed by Michael Shea.
