As time goes on many names will fall into and out of popularity - although some unfortunately fade into obscurity.
A number of names have received zero registrations this year, and some of them may surprise you. Names like Lindsey and Harold have become so uncommon that they're now endangered in the UK.
However, there have been some comebacks, with Dwayne seeing a nil count in 2021, but enjoying four new registrations this year. One parent opted for Maude in 2022 after no registrations last year.
Parenting website BabyCentre has shared its updated data with the Mirror which lists the names that received no registrations in 2022. They also revealed that while they did not make the list, the names Karen and Donald have plummeted in popularity and could be making an appearance on the 2023 list.
Sarah Redshaw, Managing Editor for BabyCentre UK, told the publication: "After becoming the name of a million memes it looks like Karen is only just hanging on. We could very well see it drop off completely next year.
"And it's no surprise that Donald is meeting the same kind of fate after the last US president’s controversial time in office."
Here are the baby names that did lose popularity enough to make it onto the list, with the 15 uncommon names revealed for both girls and boys.
Sarah said: "These names might have fallen out of fashion, but they could make a great choice for your newborn.
"They’re familiar but it’s unlikely there will be another boy or girl with the same name in your child’s class.
"Parents looking for cool and unique choices might want to put Farrah and Rhett on their shortlists."
