‘The Aristocats’: Questlove To Direct Live-Action Hybrid Remake Of Disney Animated Film

Back in October, I was able to get reliable information that said Danish actor Lars Mikkelsen, brother of Mads Mikkelsen, was indeed set to reprise the role of Grand Admiral Thrawn in live-action for Dave Filoni’s “Star Wars” series, “Ahsoka.” And today during the show’s panel at Star Wars Celebration in London the studio made it official by having Mikkelsen appear on stage (see below).

David Tennant and Lars Mikkelsen have joined Lucasfilm’s upcoming Ahsoka series.

While many fans are still waiting to see Lucasfilm develop live-action projects set during The Old Republic that explores things like the Sith Empire (long before the Rule of Two) and origins of the Jedi Order, there was a bit of a compromise with the publishing side creating The High Republic setting. It takes place between the Skywalker Saga and The Old Republic.

The live-action Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey and Jonah Hauer-King will have some of the songs updated to modern times, composer Alan Menken recently shared.

Alan Menken, who composed Disney’s most recognizable scores and songs, really enjoyed collaborating with Lin-Manuel Miranda on the live-action version of The Little Mermaid.

Barbie movie have been shared, and it is confirmed that Dua Lipa is part of the cast.The pop icon announced her role in the film with a post on Instagram earlier today (April 4). The image shared is part of the newly-released series of official posters, and depicts her as a mermaid version of Barbie.“This Barbie is a mermaid!!” She wrote as the caption.

This is a weird thing to say, considering the studio’s long history of success, but Pixar needs a hit. Questlove is set to direct a new adaptation of The Aristocats for Disney.The Roots musician, producer and filmmaker – real name Ahmir Khalib Thompson – will reimagine the animated 1970 movie as “a live-action/hybrid”, according to Deadline. He’ll also serve as an executive producer and oversee the film’s music.Will Gluck and Keith Bunin are said to be helming the script.
