Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has announced that movie theaters will be allowed to reopen on Friday, along with restaurants, retail stores and museums.
Texas becomes the latest state to allow theaters to open, though the major chains are not expected to restart business until at least July. Georgia allowed its theaters to reopen on Monday, though as yet it appears that few, if any, have chosen to do so.

In-theater advertising firm National CineMedia on Tuesday posted a widened first-quarter loss, on lower revenues, after major cinema chains in mid-March shuttered their theaters. The company recorded a net loss of $3.7 million, or 5 cents per share, against a year-earlier loss of $1.1 million, or 1 cent per share.
