Tempest Storm, the often-flame-haired striptease artist, burlesque performer, star of early Russ Meyer films and later a rock generation icon, died Tuesday in her Las Vegas apartment. She was 93.

Tempest Storm was one of the most famous burlesque stars of all time, known for her headline shows on the Las Vegas Strip.Born Annie Blanche Banks, Storm was working as a waitress in Los Angeles when a customer suggested she should try burlesque. She began working at the Follies Theater in 1951, and by 1956, she had become the highest paid burlesque performer in history, making $100,000 per year.
