‘The Pale Blue Eye’ First Look: Christian Bale & Director Scott Cooper Team Up Again For A Period Mystery Thriller

Last decade, Christian Bale and director Scott Cooper teamed up for two films, 2013’s “Out Of The Furnace” and 2017’s criminally underseen “Hostiles.” Now, they join forces again on “The Pale Blue Eye,” Cooper’s take on Louis Bayard‘s 2006 novel about a double murder at the West Point military academy in 1830. Vanity Fair’s first look at the film offers a glimpse at the period mystery thriller, which sees Bale’s detective come out of retirement to solve the murders thanks to a new protegé, Henry Melling‘s young Edgar Allan Poe.

“The Crown” has, once again, changed heads.Netflix released photos of its new Season 5 cast of the British royal family TV series on Friday. This ensemble of actresses will continue through Season 6, the show’s last.Imelda Staunton becomes the third and final actress to play Queen Elizabeth II on the series — this time during the tumultuous 1990s, in which a fire ravaged Windsor Castle, Princess Diana and Prince Charles had a messy divorce and Diana died in a Paris car crash in 1997.One still shows Staunton, 66, as the queen, looking smaller and grayer than her predecessor Olivia Colman, who won an Emmy for playing the part, next to Jonathan Pryce, 75, as Prince Philip.Another sees a sunglasses-and-swimsuit-clad Diana — Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki, 32, takes over from Emma Corrin — on a boat with Charles (Dominic West, 52), and young princes William (Timothee Sambor) and Harry (Teddy Hawley). But her happiness will be revealed as a facade.

K.J. Yossman Netflix has unveiled a set of new images from the upcoming fifth season of its hit series “The Crown” featuring a brand new cast. The stills show a lonely-looking Princess Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki, taking over from Emma Corrin in the previous season) clad in a sparkly gown as she heads into a glamorous evening engagement, her shoulders hunched and head bowed. In a separate image, Prince Charles (played by Dominic West, who replaces Josh O’Connor from seasons 3 and 4) and his mistress Camilla Parker Bowles (played by Olivia Williams, who steps into Emerald Fennell’s shoes) are beaming while huddling together outdoors as they appear to watch a fireworks display.
