The brave sister of a teenager who tragically took her own life following a secret mental health battle is urging families to watch out for their loved ones. Nikita Hunter told how Sophia-Nevaeh Nchanji was ‘laughing and joking’ with her friends the day before she passed away suddenly on February 6.
The 15-year-old, who wanted to join the police force to help others, has been described as “funny and talented” by her sibling Nikita Hunter, 24. She told how the teen, from Brackla, Wales, had struggled with mental health issues in the past but seemed happy and excited for the future.
Speaking to WalesOnline, she said: “She genuinely seemed okay. On Monday evening [February 5] my uncle had picked her up with her friends, they had been laughing and giggling in the back of the car. They got home and were laughing and joking while listening to music.
“They seemed very happy. Her friend went home at about 9pm and she seemed alright. We thought everything was okay until the next morning. My mum went to wake her up for school on Tuesday morning at 7am, couldn't see her in her bed and then found her passed away.
“When police went through her room they found a note." Nikita said the content of the note broke her heart because Sophia-Nevaeh appeared to be struggling with the aspects of herself that her family loved the most.She said: "No 15-year-old should feel how she described in that note.
