#taxi pic.twitter.com/47G9jofAtRFor those who don’t remember, “Taxi” was a very well regarded sitcom that aired from 1978-1983, first on ABC before it was canceled after Season 4, then revived on NBC for its 5th and final season. The show followed a group of disillusioned misfits working for a Manhattan cab company, anchored by Hirsch’s Alex Reiger, who happens to be the only employee that doesn’t consider the job temporary.
It struggled somewhat in ratings but routinely earned critical acclaim and Emmys.Though it’s generally considered one of the greatest-ever sitcoms, “Taxi” is likely best-remembered as the show that made Andy Kaufman famous. Kaufman of course tragically died of lung cancer in 1984 at age 35, less than a year after “Taxi” went off the year.
Since his death he’s become regarded as one of the most influential comedians in American history. But it also featured a stellar cast that not only included the people featured in the photograph above, but also Danny DeVito, Marilu Henner and the late Jeff Conaway. But of course, the people featured in the photograph have distinguished careers of their own, and it’s nice to see despite their successes they’re all still friends.

according to the Mirror.“The weather was bad so there were no birds in the air, and I couldn’t really see the planes so I didn’t check the photos until later,” said Simon Balson, a 59-year-old shooting from the 13th floor of his apartment building in Limehouse.“When I did, though, I spotted this weird object and just thought ‘what the hell is that.’ “The small and reddish object he captured — Balson claims to have “no idea” what it could be — looks closest to a sideways heart and was apparently observed above the jets while they were in a triangular formation heading towards the London Mall.“I enhanced the image and tried to increase the spec to see what it was, it looks like a floating acorn or something,” he said.“All I could get is that it had a little bit of a red top, but I just have no idea what it could be.”Adding to the X Files-esque phenomenon, Balson claims that there’s been a “lot of unexplained sightings” around East London lately.

Michaela Zee editor Hollywood has had considerable feats of Asian representation this year: “Everything Everywhere All at Once’s” historic Oscar wins, Netflix’s “Beef” and, on May 24, “American Born Chinese.” However, despite the nuanced portrayal of the Asian American identity within the phantasmagorical world of Chinese mythology, Ke Huy Quan was hesitant about joining the series’ Asian-led ensemble. “I remember when I first heard about this character when I was offered the role, it scared the hell out of me. In fact, I actually passed on it because I told our creative team that this is the type of portrayal that we do not want to see in 2023,” Quan said during a post-screening Q&A at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday night.
