Taika Waititi Dedicates Oscar Screenplay Win for 'Jojo Rabbit' to Indigenous Kids Around the World

With the Oscars behind him, Jojo Rabbit's Taika Waititi can shift his focus to Thor: Love And Thunder. The Marvel Cinematic Universe movie watches Chris Hemsworth reprise his role of Thor aka God of Thunder. It also presents Natalie Portman as the first female Thor of MCU. While Marvel Studios and Taika Waititi have been tight-lipped about the fourth Thor movie, the Thor: Ragnarok director has slipped a detail about his deal with Marvel Studios for Thor: Love And Thunder. 

Following his Oscar victory for “Jojo Rabbit,” Taika Waititi has turned his focus to Marvel’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” and gained some help in shaping the script.

Sunday night's (Feb. 9) Oscars was notable for a number of firsts: Parasite became the first non-English-language feature to win best picture, Brad Pitt snagged his first Oscar for acting and a woman (Eimear Noone) conducted the Oscars orchestra for the first time.

Taika Waititi dedicated his Oscars win to “Indigenous kids all over the world” as he became the first Maori filmmaker to nab the prize for Adapted Screenplay.

Tonight, Brad Pitt—man, myth, long-haired Hollywood legend—won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. In his speech, Pitt (who's had some practice with acceptance speeches this season, thanks to his wins at the Golden Globes, SAGs, and BAFTAs in the last few weeks) took the opportunity to make some jokes, thank the people he worked with, take some political jabs, and, in a touching moment, give a shoutout to his children.

Taika Waititi has won best adapted screenplay at the 2020 Academy Awards for “Jojo Rabbit.” Taking the stage, the actor, director and writer joked about his statue, “This is really light! It’s supposed to be heavy.”
