The film - which is entitled Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial - will follow the tumultuous relationship between the Pirates of the Caribbean star and his ex-wife, both in and out of court. It is set to debut exclusively on the free Tubi streaming service on September 30.

Depp will be portrayed by Days of Our Lives actor Mark Hapka, with Megan Davis (Alone in the Dark) has been cast as Heard in the forthcoming film, which follows the ex-couple’s tumultuous relationship in and out of court. Station 19’s Melissa Marty will star as Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, and Law & Order: True Crime’s Mary Carrig will play Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft.

Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard will be released September 19 on Discovery+.Titled Johnny vs Amber: The US Trial, the documentary features interviews with Depp’s lawyers, legal experts and journalists, along with behind-the-scenes footage amid the trial which was held between April and June this year.The first episode will investigate Depp’s side of events, covering his “abusive childhood and drug dependencies” and presenting “an alternative version of events that show Johnny to be a victim of domestic abuse himself”.The second episode details Heard’s account, including “her detailed description of alleged sexual assault told on camera for the first time” and how “advocates of Depp mercilessly attacked her via social media,” as noted in a press release.A synopsis reads: “The series gives a forensic account of the key evidence and turning points of the case from both sides, allowing viewers to make up their own minds about who to believe.”Depp sued Heard for defamation over a 2018 op-ed in The Washington Post, where she wrote about being a survivor of domestic violence. While his name isn’t mentioned in the piece, Depp’s lawyers argued it falsely implies she was sexually and physically abused by him in their marriage.

You had to be as hyper-masculine as possible to fit in,” said Malakar.“And coming up in 2007, it was like, ‘Being gay is OK, but you have to define yourself, and there’s this or that.'”Malakar said that while he was on “Idol,” several of his fans speculated that he wasn’t entirely straight despite the fact that he has a long-term girlfriend at the time.He claimed several of his publicists told him that he should remain “ambiguous” about his sexuality.“‘No one needs to know anything about anything because you don’t want to lose your fans,'” Malakar recalled one publicist saying.Malakar also said that he really didn’t know how to interact with male peers due to his father not really being a role model.“I had a hard time figuring out how to interact with young boys because my dad’s from India and grew up in a temple, so there was never like, ‘This is how you are a boy,'” says Malakar.
