The story of Sam (played by Jared Padalecki on the original series) and Dean’s family has always been a mystery, but now, Dean wants to finally uncover how the demon-hunting Winchesters came to be.The trailer for the “Supernatural” prequel brings viewers to the night Dean and Sam’s father, John Winchester, met their mother, Mary Campbell. It’s a classic love story.

Having Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins on hand to each present their new series at the CW upfront, the network could resist getting the Supernatural trio back together on stage.

The CW opted to not renew almost a dozen scripted series ahead of the 2022-2023 season, and on Thursday morning, the network’s chairman and CEO, Mark Pedowitz, addressed why.Pedowitz preemptively answered the question about all the cancellations before any journalist on the call had time to ask.“Look, none of these  were easy decisions,” he told reporters. “We have long conversations about studios and parent companies, and everyone recognized that this was a time of transition for The CW.

In a sign of the times, CW’s presentation included a tour of its new enhanced app.Pedowitz also made an oblique reference to the deal that is deep in negotiations for station group giant Nexstar to acquire a majority stake in the network that has been jointly owned by Warner Bros.

Riverdale is coming to an end. The CW announced on Thursday, May 19 that Riverdale season 7, which will air in a midseason slot, shall be its last.During an executive call on Thursday, CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz that Riverdale’s conclusion was agreed upon with show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, “who’s thrilled by this news.” Pedowitz ensured that “seven years is the right amount” for the series and promised to give it a proper send-off.

Back in February, after the CW had picked up its pilots for this year and Babylon 5 was not among them, creator J. Michael Straczynski took to social media to assure fans that the reboot was still alive.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterThe CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz reassured DC fans that the network plans to continue making superhero shows despite recent events.“[We’re] staying in the superhero business,” Pedowitz said on a press call ahead of the network’s annual upfront presentation for advertisers. “We are staying working with Greg Berlanti, who has masterminded creatively The CW DC Universe.”Pedowitz then pointed to the fact that DC’s “Stargirl” will be on The CW’s fall lineup, while fellow DC shows “The Flash” and “Superman & Lois” will be airing at midseason along with the new DC show “Gotham Knights.” He did acknowledge, however, that the network’s DC offerings have been pared down, such as the cancellation of “Legends of Tomorrow” after seven seasons and of “Batwoman” after three.

It’s a “time of transition” for The CW.

If we went back in time and we actually saw the story of mom and dad and how they met — but do it in a way that skews the narrative so that we hit those waypoints that we established on ‘Supernatural,’ but get you from A to B, B to C, C to D in a way that is really unexpected.’ And then we found a way to continue that story in a way that might be surprising, but always keeping in our back pocket getting us back to the mythology that is established, which is not an easy task.
