Supermarkets who sold 15p Christmas veg accused of 'ripping us off' throughout the rest of the year

Shoppers have accused supermarkets of ripping off customers through the rest of the year after massive price cuts before Christmas.
The festive season saw a number of the main supermarkets selling vegetables, including big bags of potatoes, for just 15p.
Among them was Lidl, from where we shared a photo of its discounted display, showing swede, sprouts, carrots, parsnips and more. Both Tesco and Aldi had similar discounts, while Morrisons and Sainsbury's were selling some veg for 19p.
The price of mince was also reduced at Lidl, down to £2.29 a pack, strengthening its position as the cheapest supermarket in our weekly price comparison, which has been tracking the cost of the same eight items since March 2022.

The cost of the mince remains the same this week, making the retailer's bill £11.58 for the shopping basket, which also includes milk, bread, butter, tea bags, coffee, beans and chicken.
Prices of veg are back up across the board though - and it's the dramatic drop before Christmas which has sparked criticism from customers.
Commenting on our story on the M.E.N's Facebook page, Scott Roden said: "These cheap prices show us how much they are ripping us off." And Roy Casey agreed, saying: "Just shows the price hike all year round."
