A supermarket worker discovered a man's body as he walked to work to start his shift.
Police scrambled to the scene beside Moray Leisure Centre in the heart of Elgin on Monday morning. The body of a 54-year-old man was spotted under Morriston Bridge on the River Lossie just before 8am.
Five marked police vehicles and a CID car attended the incident.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
The bridge area remains taped off as officers and detectives continue their investigation.
