Studio Lambert Promotes Trio In UK & U.S.
The Circle producer Studio Lambert has made a series of promotions in its development teams on both sides of the Atlantic. Niall O’Driscoll is relocating from London, where he was Head of Development, Unscripted, to become Senior VP of Development and Current in LA, with his deputy Harry Knott (aka Harry Garne) taking his previous role in the UK. O’Driscoll will report to Executive VP Jack Burgess. At Studio Lambert North, indie’s Manchester-based subsidiary, Rose Hibbert has been upped to Head of Talent from her previous rile as Talent Manager and will report to Head of Unscripted Darrell Olsen. The moves come as Studio Lambert’s fourth season of Netflix reality show The Circle launches the week. Other upcoming shows include Amazon’s highschool dating format Lovestruck High, Netflix competition Dance 100 and NBC adventure series Million Dollar Island.
Channel 4 Buys Paramount+ Australian Comedy ‘Spreadsheet’
British broadcaster Channel 4 has acquired eight-part Katherine Parkinson comedy Spreadsheet from distributor ITV Studios. The show, originally for Paramount+ Australia and from Northern Pictures, follows The IT Crowd star Parkinson as a divorced mother of two who wants sex without commitment and develops a database of sexual options to help her search. Writer Kara Ellis created the show with Darren Ashton. Channel 4 will premiere it on May 18 in a 10pm slot before releasing it as a boxset on streamer All4. “Spreadsheet is a hilarious, risqué comedy which we are thrilled to be showing on Channel 4 and All 4. It has a distinctive, strong voice which we know will really resonate with our audience,” said Channel 4 Head of Acquisitions Nick Lee.

In a further expansion of their kids and family programming slate, HBO Max and Cartoon Network are teaming on new live-action coming-of-age comedy series, Home Sweet Rome, from Emmy-nominated Hannah Montana and That’s So Raven creator Michael Poryes, for premiere in 2023.
Channel 4 Puts 1,000 Hours Of Shows On YouTube: British broadcaster Channel 4 has signed a deal with YouTube to put 1,000 hours of programming on the Google-owned streaming platform. The agreement expands on an existing partnership between the companies and will allow Channel 4 to sell its own advertising around the show — a first-of-its-kind deal in the UK and Europe. Shows will begin rolling out this month and include 8 Out Of 10 Cats; Location, Location, Location; Nikki Grahame: Who Is She?, SAS: Who Dares Wins and The Dog House. Selected titles will be made available 30 days after their first broadcast on Channel 4 or younger sibling network E4. Channel 4 has been following a five-year ‘Future 4’ strategy to supercharge digital revenues, and its management believes today’s deal represents a “major step” in that process.

Paramount+ Acquires Drama ‘Compulsion’ From Eccho Rights: Paramount+ has added a drama from its Paramount Global stablemate Channel 5 to its collection in several territories around the world. The streamer has tapped distributor Eccho Rights for Compulsion, which recently aired in the UK, for exclusive rights in Australia, Latin America and the Nordics. Moving On producer LA Productions made the show in association with Sweden-based Eccho. The family drama, from writer Sarah Deane, follows a woman on the edge of losing everything who meets a stranger who seems to have the answers to her problems. Leanne Best (Cold Feet) stars alongside Anna Chancellor (The Watch) and Hayley Mills (Pollyanna).
