Ellise Shafer Elodie Grace Orkin (“Stranger Things”) and Samuel Small (“The Strays”) are set to star in “Screening Room,” a short drama written and directed by Abdullah Khan (“Find the Light”). “Screening Room” explores the connection between two moviegoers. Set during a film festival in London, the short follows a young screenwriter, played by Small, who while searching for inspiration meets a mysterious woman (Orkin).
The two then bond over their shared love of cinema. Maria Almeida (“The Strays”), Kika Green (“House of the Dragon”), Alan Emrys (“Host”) and Ken Christiansen (“It’s a Sin”) round out the short’s cast. “The intention was to celebrate the moviegoing experience,” Khan said in a statement to Variety.
“When we go into these dark spaces and lose ourselves into the screen, there are always interactions between strangers that make the experience even more memorable.” “Screening Room” completed principal photography at London’s iconic Prince Charles Cinema and is targeting a film festival debut later this year. The film is produced by Lucas A. Ferrara and Khan under his Rosebud Films production banner.
Their previous collaboration, “Path to Ecstasy,” starring Olivier Award winner Michael Jibson (“Hamilton”) and Louis Ashbourne-Serkis (“The Kid Who Would be King”), is currently competing on the festival circuit. “Screening Room” marks Khan’s third short, following last year’s “Path to Ecstasy” and 2022’s “Find the Light” starring George MacKay. Rosebud Films is currently in development on several feature films, including a psychological period piece exploring the occult and a historical biopic set in northern Pakistan.
