Steven Yeun is speaking out about his departure from Marvel’s “Thunderbolts.” While celebrating the opening of the Louis Vuitton pop-up in West Hollywood on Wednesday night, Yeun spoke to Variety‘s Marc Malkin about his “Thunderbolts” exit, citing last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike as one reason behind his decision to drop out of the upcoming antihero film. “I think for me, time passing and things shifting kind of pulled me out of it,” Yeun explained.
“But Jake [Schreier], I know, is going to do an incredible job.” “I wanna do a Marvel movie,” he added. Yeun’s involvement in “Thunderbolts” was first reported back in February, though Marvel never officially confirmed his casting.
“Paper Towns” director Jake Schreier is helming the film, with “Beef” creator Lee Sung Jin penning the script from a first draft by “Black Widow” screenwriter Eric Pearson. “Thunderbolts” paused production in May due to the WGA strike, and has yet to begin filming following the end of the dual Hollywood strikes.
“It took a lot of drafts on email to make sure that I conveyed the sincerity of how sorry I was to have to back out,” Yeun said. Asked what Marvel movie he would like to work on in the future, Yeun replied, “I think it’s too early to say that.
I probably pissed off too many people leaving, so I’m just gonna say, ‘Thank you for having me.'” “I have some ideas,” Yeun teased. “But I heard if you put it out there, you’ll never get it, so I’ll keep it close to my chest.”

Peter Debruge Chief Film Critic On the most literal level, Sam and Andy Zuchero’s “Love Me” is about the relationship between a buoy adrift at sea and a satellite circling the earth. The eccentric rom-com takes place in a time after humans have gone extinct, when the surviving machines’ only references are a massive hard drive’s worth of data combed from search engines and social media sites.
PARK CITY – Whatever your thoughts on Sam and Andy Zuchero’s “Love Me” few will dispute that for an independently financed film it’s a unique and creative achievement. At least a third of the movie is CG animation, another third is motion capture animation, and the final portion is live action.
