Following the sudden and unexpected passing of BBC Radio 2 DJ Steve Wright, speculation has arisen surrounding the cause of his death. While some suggested it may have been due to the loss of his beloved radio show, his brother Laurence has addressed rumours, stating it was more likely due to lifestyle choices.
Steve, who passed away at the age of 69, had been a fixture on BBC Radio 2 for 23 years until his show was axed in 2022. His sudden death left fans and colleagues shocked, with tributes pouring in for the legendary presenter.
Laurence Wright has since spoken out. He highlighted Steve's lifestyle choices, acknowledging that while Steve may not have had any known medical problems, he could have taken better care of himself.
However, Steve’s friend of 40 years Gary Farrow explained that he didn't know Steve had any real medical problems to speak of, but did enjoy eating fast food. Speaking to The Sun, Gary said: "From what I know, he didn’t have any real medical problems - he was always taking vitamins and popping pills.
Sure, he didn't really eat broccoli and he liked McDonald's, but he was such a character, the likes of which I don’t think we will see again.” In an interview with MailOnline, Laurence said: "It's like anyone who doesn't look after themselves over an extended period.
The normal stuff - diet, nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress - he was a very stoic kind of guy as well so if he had something wrong with him and he had to go to have some treatment or go to the doctors, he wouldn't talk about it." Laurence, who serves as a director in the health industry, attributes his older brother's unexpected passing at the age of 69 to a combination of factors.
