days are numbered. Popular soap opera star Steve Burton confirmed Wednesday that he will be leaving the long-running show “Days of Our Lives” nearly one year after returning to the melodrama. “Wow! Well, I just shot my final scenes here on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and I just want to say, thank you so much to the cast [and] to the crew.
It’s been amazing,” Burton, 53, said in a video uploaded to YouTube. “I can’t believe it’s been a year already! So, thank you so much to the fans. It’s just … I’m always so full of gratitude.
So thank you. Stay tuned,” he continued. The Post reached out to Burton for comment.
Burton made his “Days” debut in 1988 as Harris Micheals but later departed the show when his contract ran out a year later. Following his time on the four-time Emmy-winning show, Burton appeared on “The Young and Restless” and the ABC soap “General Hospital,” which earned him several Daytime Emmy Awards. In 2021, Burton revealed that he was let go from the ABC hit after he refused to comply with the studio’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
“I know there’s been a lot of rumors and speculations about me and ‘General Hospital’ and I wanted you to hear it from me personally,” the actor said in a video posted to his Instagram. “Unfortunately, ‘General Hospital’ has let me go because of the vaccine mandate.”According to the star, he applied for both a religious and medical exemption through the studio but was denied both “which, you know, hurts,” added the actor. “But this is also about personal freedom to me.” “I’ll always be grateful for my time on ‘General Hospital.’ I love it there, I grew up there.
