Ryan Murphy is the producer to beat for this week’s Netflix Top 10, as his latest true crime title “The Watcher” dethroned his previous hit “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” with 125 million hours viewed. “Dahmer” still sat at No. 2 on the English TV list, racking up another 122.8 million viewing hours in its fourth week on the chart.“The Watcher,” starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale as a couple caught in an unnerving stalker’s web, is a seven-episode limited series based on the story of the real-life couple who was harassed by the titular unnamed individual.

Leva Bonaparte of Southern Charm is getting a spinoff focused on her running her business. Southern Hospitality was announced at BravoCon and the reality series is set to premiere on Monday, November 28 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.

With a subtler hand, and a much shorter runtime, a film could have explored the rich themes of the dark side of upward mobility and the erosion of civility among neighbors while serving up subtle but real scares, toying with the idea that the titular letter-writer could be any smiling neighbor at the grocery store.The neighbors in Murphy’s “The Watcher” wouldn’t be even remotely recognizable in the real world, so we get none of that all-too-believable dread.

Protecting the safety and freedoms of a citizenry is the first principle of any government, and from that principle derive all other benefits a society confers. Like the freedom to go to a bar and get hammered without getting shot on your way home.  Freedoms like that are under threat in New York, as worsening street conditions have become a significant drag on the city’s famed nightlife.
