Disney+ has confirmed its Mandalorian spin-off, Ahsoka, will return for a second season. Set after the fall of the Empire, it stars Rosario Dawson as former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano.
The eight-part series debuted in August and also starred Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla and Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll. Taking to social media on Wednesday (January 10), the official Star Wars account confirmed that season two was on its way, with creator Dave Filoni returning to the helm.
The account shared a beautiful Filoni sketch which appears to show Sabine and Ahsoka on the Father Statue - seemingly picking up where the second season ended, when villain Baylan had stood on a cliff near three crumbling statues; The Son, The Daughter and The Father.

Star Wars fans gave him a tough time for “betraying” Han Solo.Appearing on Entertainment Weekly‘s Dagobah Dispatch podcast, the Lando Calrissian actor explained how his character’s actions in The Empire Strikes Back – which included making a deal with Darth Vader that lead to Han Solo being captured and frozen in carbonite – resulted in a backlash that extended into his real life.“When I would pick my daughter up from school, the kids would run up to me and say, ‘You betrayed Han Solo!’” Williams said. “I’d go on an airplane and the airplane stewards would say, ‘You betrayed Han Solo!’ I got that for a lot of years.”Williams said that he would try to reason with upset Star Wars fans, telling them: “Look, think about the whole situation.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Billy Dee Williams appeared on Entertainment Weekly’s “Dagobah Dispatch” podcast and discussed the backlash he’s faced throughout the years due to the “Star Wars” franchise. Williams debuted as Lando Calrissian in “The Empire Strikes Back,” which includes a moment in which Lando makes a deal with the Empire that leads to Han Solo being captured and frozen in carbonite. Some “Star Wars” fans still have not forgiven Lando and the backlash extended into Williams’ real life.
Daisy Ridley has said the idea for her upcoming, Rey-led Star Wars film is “cool as shit”.The movie, which is set some time after the events of The Rise Of Skywalker and reportedly follows Rey as she attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order, will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.In a new interview with Variety, Ridley was asked how franchise’s first female filmmaker will impact the series.“The short answer is I don’t know. I’m excited to do the job, but not because Sharmeen is a woman,” she said.“Her documentaries are amazing. Her idea for the story is cool as shit.
Daisy Ridley may have starred in several films since the last “Star Wars” movie, 2019’s “The Rise Of Starwalker,” but for general audiences she’ll always be Rey. Is that for better or worse? Well, even diehard “Star Wars” fans aren’t thrilled that the heroine is the paternal granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine.
“Star Wars” animation is always pointed to by diehard fans as some of the best storytelling the franchise has ever seen. And while “The Bad Batch” isn’t discussed as top-tier (at least from what has been told to me by big fans), it’s still probably better than a lot of what is happening in live-action.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Jodie Foster has shocked the “Star Wars” fandom by confirming she was offered the role of Princess Leia in “Star Wars,” which unquestionably would’ve changed the course of her career. The two-time Oscar winner told Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” that she was already locked into a contract for a Disney movie at the time and didn’t want to break it in order to join a galaxy far, far away. Foster did not reveal what Disney movie, but the timeline suggests it might’ve been “Freaky Friday,” which was released a year before “Star Wars.” “You’ve been in so many iconic roles, and we love what you do,” Fallon said during the show.

The surprise announcement this week of “The Mandalorian & Grogu” raised a ton of questions about the galaxy of Lucasfilm.
Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” is on Netflix now, and obviously, it’s a divisive film with a 22% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Our review wasn’t pretty blunt about it, too, calling it “lifeless and superficial,” but it’s still fascinating that Netflix went all in on it, and a sequel, “Rebel Moon: The Scargiver,” is coming in April 2024 (read our review here; check out our 2024 blockbuster preview here).
Even though it would appear that Lucasfilm has its ducks in a row regarding the future of “Star Wars” films (even if the studio throws the odd curveball), it wasn’t that long ago when things really felt like absolute chaos. People were hired to develop films, conflicting reports would follow.
With Marvel Studios having an incredibly rough 2023, you have to wonder if any of the previous films will get a bit of a reconsideration. The one that springs to mind most is “Eternals.” At the time, there were people who swore “Eternals” was the worst thing Marvel had ever produced.
