Katie Meyer, a captain on the Standford Women’s Soccer Team, tragically passed away this week at the age of 22 and now her cause of death has been confirmed.
The soccer star was found dead in her dorm room on Tuesday (March 1) and a rep for Stanford University released a statement in response to the devastating news.
Now, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coronor has released a statement.

Katie‘s death has been determined to be “self-inflicted” and no foul play is suspected.
“The County of Santa Clara Medical Examiner-Coroner is investigating Kathryn Meyer‘s death. There is no indication of foul play, and Meyer’s death was determined to be self-inflicted,” the statement read (via The Sun). “The County of Santa Clara is not releasing additional information about the case at this time. The Medical Examiner-Coroner extends sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Katie Meyer.”
