Spotify accused of lax response to white supremacist acts on streaming platform

Spotify has been accused of a lax response to remove white supremacist content from the streaming platform.According to a report by the Anti-Defamation League, a total of 40 white supremacist acts were being hosted on Spotify, violating the platform’s rules against “dangerous content”.The report found that musical sub-genres embraced by these artists included Fashwave – electronic music that espouses white supremacist ideology, Rock Against Communism, a sub-genre of punk that promotes racism and antisemitism and National Socialist Black Metal (NBSM), a sub-genre of metal that espouses fascism and white supremacy. The ADL noted that several of these acts, many of which it says shared links to “other extremist spaces” directly in their profiles, are “verified” artists on Spotify, giving them licence to use the platform’s built-in tools to help surface their music on playlists. The report claimed that a keyword search on Spotify for the term Fashwave turned up in a total of 72 playlists created by the platform’s users, with titles such as 14/88 (a white supremacist code) and Right Wing Death Squad. It also highlighed instances of Spotify-generated algorithmic playlists curated for individual users that incorporate white supremacist content. Despite contravening the anti-extremist guidelines in Spotify’s content policy, such content has flourished on the platform, according to the report.A previous report in February, found that Spotify’s platform rules were lacking and “loosely defined,” leading Spotify to update those rules to add “a much more explicit anti-extremism policy.”But the ADL said in its new report that those rules “do not appear to be strictly enforced” and “Spotify still has considerable work to do in

Now the social-media platform wants to tickle some funny bones, as well. OnlyFans announced the launch of its Creative Fund: Comedy Edition, which will let creators in the U.K. and Ireland compete for the chance to win a total of £100,000 — more than $100,000 at current exchange rates — and appear in a reality-competition series on OFTV, its non-pornographic streaming service. Instagram Developing ‘Nudity Protection’ Feature to Block Unsolicited Nude Photos in DMs

Todd Spangler NY Digital Editor Instagram is working on a way to let users block unsolicited nude photos that they’re sent via direct messages — using a “nudity protection” filter to screen out and hide such pics. The social media giant confirmed the development of the feature but did not provide a timeline for when it would become available. “We’re working closely with experts to ensure these new features preserve people’s privacy, while giving them control over the messages they receive,” a spokesperson for Meta, Instagram’s parent company, said in a statement. According to Instagram, the “nudity protection” feature will be optional. It’s similar to Hidden Words, an opt-in feature Instagram launched last year that automatically filters out abusive DM requests based on keywords and diverts them into a hidden folder so users never have to see them.

Love Island’s Indiyah Polack opens up about ‘dick’ Luca Bish

Giving other outlets a shoutout isn't really the done thing when it comes to entertainment journalism, but when it comes to TikTok star Grace Keeling (or GK Barry as she's otherwise known)'s Saving Grace podcast we can't rave about it or her enough; namely because the Love Island tea this queen manages to extract from Islanders lulled into a false sense of security is always PIPING and MESSY.Her latest guest was Love Island 2022 queen of queens Indiyah Polack, who came in fourth place with boyfriend Dami Hope – and who is on par with Grace when it comes to being a consistent content ICON – so naturally, after an hour in Grace's chair, there was GOSS.After a long chat about life after Love Island with Dami, Love Island producers and the girls flashing their boobs to keep tea-spilling off air (love it) – and a couple of silver tequila shots – the topic of controversial Love Island finalist Luca Bish arose.Towards the end of the latest episode of Saving Grace, Grace asked Indiyah an array of fan questions including, "Was Luca as bad as he seemed [on Love Island]?"Indiyah admitted that she hasn't watched any of the show back, but she's naturally aware of how Luca was perceived by many during the summer series. She admitted, “Luca isn’t awful."He’s just a f-cking wind up and he knows it and he loves it.”In other words, he's a real-life panto villain who gets off on booing, so keep booing, boos.Naturally, Grace brought up his dramatic apology to Tasha Ghouri – after countless fans, including Gemma Owen's mum, accused him of bullying her on the show – and asked Indiyah whether the apology was producer-led.
