South Korea’s Homophobic Tension Builds After Second Wave Of COVID-19

Lady Gaga sprinkled some Willy Wonka-style dust on her Little Monsters on Thursday (May 28) with the surprise release of her Blackpink collab, "Sour Candy." The mouth-puckeringly sweet dance pop confection co-produced by BURNS and frequent collaborator BloodPop is a 2:38 bi-lingual bop that finds Gaga trading off verses with the South Korean girl group's members as they spin a tale of enticing love that requires some genuine, hard-to-crack effort.

Los Angeles-based Black Box Management and Seoul-based BH Entertainment have struck a strategic partnership, kicking off with a remake of the 2018 South Korean horror film Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. Directed by Jung Bum-shik and sold by Showbox to Well Go USA for North America, the original Gonjiam revolves around an online reality show that recruits a handful of people to explore the abandoned Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital.

While Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun's chemistry in the spotlight of The King: Eternal Monarch, fans are enjoying Woo Do Hwan's bond with Min Ho and Go Eun off-screen as well. The actor plays dual roles in the show. In the Republic of Korea, the actor essays the role of Jo Eun-Sup, a happy-go-lucky public worker, who shares a little brother like relationship with Go Eun's Jung Tae Eul. Whereas in the Kingdom of Corea, the actor plays the chief royal guard Jo Yeong who protects Min Ho's Lee Gon. 

BTS member Jungkook has tested negative for Covid-19 after visiting a restaurant and bar in an area of Seoul, South Korea hit by a new coronavirus outbreak.

BTS has been spending downtime in South Korea after their Map of the Soul tour concerts were cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Although the Bangtan Boys have been spending time together, working on new music and hosting VLives to stay in touch with the ARMY, they are also using the period to indulge in activities that wouldn't have been possible if they were touring. For example, RM stepped out to enjoy a meal at a restaurant in South Korea's Gapyeong. 

Lee Min Ho was pleasantly surprised to have received a gift from his friend, South Korean actor Lee Jung Jea. The Cheif of Staff star sent the actor a blue coffee truck on the sets of The King: Eternal Monarch to shower Min Ho with support. The actor took to Instagram to share pictures of his gift. Min Ho stood by the stuck holding a cold-brewed coffee to share a glimpse of his gift with his fans on social media.

2 min read A corona-infected man who visited several gay bars in Seoul has been blamed for a new Coronavirus outbreak in South Korea, which risks increasing homophobic abuse in the country. A symptom-free 29-year-old, who was later diagnosed with Covid-19, visited five gay bars in Seoul’s Itaewon party area without knowing he was carrying the coronavirus.
